The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Wisconsin has announced two federal indictments were handed down last month that involve seven individuals, six from the Northwoods, on charges related to illegally distributing opioid pain medication known as Oxycodone.

A Trempealeau County woman charged with killing a toddler in her care by giving the girl a combination of the prescription painkiller Oxycodone and the antihistamine Benadryl was convicted this week of homicide.

Amanda Butts of Osseo, Wis., pleaded guilty in Trempealeau County Circuit Court to first-degree reckless homicide and no contest to physical abuse of a child in the June 2013 (more…)
