An FBI agent who investigated an alleged prescription drug ploy involving a local doctor said in federal court Friday that approximately 120,000 oxycodone pills were obtained through prescriptions and sold on the streets for about $17 to $25 each, totaling an estimated $2.4 million.

Richmond-area physician Clarence Scranage Jr., 61, is facing federal charges in the alleged oxycodone “pill mill” operation.

Pain management specialist accused of running Oxycodone ‘pill mill’ – WWBT NBC12 News


A pain management specialist working in Richmond, Henrico and Chesterfield is behind bars accused of an oxycodone distribution ring.

Dr. Clarence Scranage Jr. faces 19 federal felony drug charges in connection with the scheme that lasted nearly two years, according to prosecutors. He was arrested on Feb. 21 after a federal grand jury indicted him on the charges.

A Richmond-area physician and self-described pain management specialist for the past five years, is facing federal charges in connection with an alleged oxycodone “pill mill” operation.

Clarence Scranage Jr., 61, who is said to have practiced in offices in Richmond and in Chesterfield and Henrico counties, was indicted on a charge of conspiracy to possess controlled substances with the intent to distribute (more…)
