The US Drug Enforcement Administration published new regulations regarding the widely prescribed painkiller hydrocodone. More than 65 prescription medications contain the highly-addictive opioid. It’s right up there with oxycodone and morphine, and now it will be treated as such. A Warwick physician who had his license suspended in the 1990s for having sexual contact with a patient, is now suspended from prescribing controlled substances, after an investigation into his writing improper prescriptions for drugs including Oxycodone, Diazepam, and Adderall.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Rhode Island has suspended a physician’s ability to prescribe controlled substances following allegations that he issued long-term prescriptions for high-powered pain management drugs to patients.
State Health Director Michael Fine suspended the prescription privileges for Jorge Ruelos (ruh-AYE’-lose) on Thursday.
The state says the Rhode Island Board of Pharmacy received complaints from pharmacists about Ruelos’ prescriptions. An investigation found (more…)
