L.I. Doctor Pleads Not Guilty In Oxycodone Case – WSHU

A Nassau County doctor has pleaded not guilty to federal charges of illegally distributing oxycodone to patients over a three-year period during which time two died from overdoses.

Dr. Michael Belfiore was first charged in 2014 for prescribing oxycodone six times without a legitimate medical need to an undercover Nassau County detective. At that time, he was released on $500,000 bond.

Physician assistant pleads guilty in Hamptons oxycodone case – Newsday

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. – (AP) — A physician assistant pleaded guilty Friday in an oxycodone case that led to the resignation of a Hamptons politician.

Michael Troyan, 37, of Riverhead, pleaded guilty to conspiring to illegally distribute oxycodone. He faces up to 20 years in prison and has agreed to forfeit $710,290, according to U.S. Attorney Robert Capers.

Noel Blackman charged in oxycodone scheme, officials say – Newsday

Federal authorities arrested a Long Island doctor late Sunday at Kennedy Airport they suspect illegally prescribed vast amounts of oxycodone — 365,000 pills in 2015 — in a drug-dealing enterprise spanning three states.

Agents took Noel Blackman, 68, into custody after they ordered a Guyana-bound jet taxiing for take off with Blackman aboard to return to an airport terminal.
