FDA has approved oxycodone hydrochloride and naltrexone hydrochloride (Troxyca ER—Pfizer) extended-release capsules, for oral use, CII for the management of pain severe enough to require daily, long-term opioid treatment. The drug is the only oxycodone with oral abuse-deterrent features described in the labeling.
Some people blame the federal government’s crackdown on the use of addictive pain medicines such as Oxycodone for the popularity of heroin. Police say buying heroin is cheaper than buying black market drugs like Oxycodone. When people addicted to Oxyocodone can no longer get a legal prescription, some turn to heroin, which is not only cheaper, but more readily available. Police (more…)
