Ontario provincial police say they have dismantled a prescription drug and cocaine trafficking ring allegedly run by an inmate in jail.
Investigators believe the group has been operating for two years and funnelled large amounts of cocaine and the painkiller Oxycodone from southern Ontario cities to remote aboriginal communities in northwestern Ontario.

Woodbridge resident Ginger Carlyle and 10 others were arrested in connection with a July 6 enforcement investigation into criminal activity at the Quality Inn in Woodbridge, Prince William County police spokesperson Jonathan Perok said.
“As a result of the operation, 1.5 lbs of marijuana, U.S. Currency, and other various drugs were seized,” Perok said.

PORTLAND, Maine — A Connecticut man who traded cocaine for prescriptions for oxycodone with a podiatrist was sentenced Friday in U.S. District Court to a year and three months in federal prison.
Dariem Vanalstyne, 25, of New London, Conn., pleaded guilty in February to four counts of acquiring drugs by deception.
