A Mooresville man was charged Wednesday with trafficking prescription pills and driving while impaired after an Iredell Deputy pulled him over near his home, Sheriff Darren Campbell said.
After K-9 Deputy David Caskaddon stopped the driver, Charles Willie Black Jr., around 11 p.m. outside his home in the 100 block of Westmoreland Road, he noticed an odor of alcohol coming from Black, Campbell said in a press release.
Caskaddon discovered Black was driving with a suspended license from South Carolina.
The release said a search of the vehicle turned up a prescription medication bottle containing 41 pills of different kinds, which were later found to be oxycodone hydrochloride, a prescription pain medication.
Black was charged with DWI and taken before a magistrate, where he was charged with trafficking by possession and trafficking by transport, both felonies. He also faces a charge of driving while license was revoked.
He is held under a $100,000 secured bond.
