Newport News Police say the man entered the Walgreens at 12750 Jefferson Avenue, Monday shortly before 10 p.m. According to police, the man was holding a knife when he approached the pharmacist.
The pharmacist placed the drugs in a bag, along with a pack of syringes the man requested, said police.
The man then fled the business on foot with prescription drugs valued at several thousand dollars.
Just an hour before this robbery, police say an armed man using a T-shirt to cover his face also demanded oxycodone from a Rite Aide pharmacy in Newport News. However, police have not connected both crimes.
