Married in 2010, the couple now stands charged with trafficking Oxycodone, according to a Sheriff’s Office report.
The road to the couple’s arrest began on Sept. 19, when Kayla Ramsey, 24, called the CVS pharmacy at 301 N. Federal Highway in Boynton Beach and asked for a refill on a Tramadol prescription, according to the report.
But it was too soon to refill the prescription, the pharmacist told her, and her doctor would need to confirm the request.
“The prescription was a fraud,” a detective wrote in the report.
Detectives then discovered it hadn’t been the first time Kayla Ramsey’s name had fraudulently popped up at the pharmacy.
On Aug. 21, deputies say Ricky Ramsey, 25, walked into the pharmacy and dropped off what appeared to be his wife’s prescription for 60 Oxycodone tablets. He returned to the pharmacy 15 minutes later, the report says, and picked up the drugs.
Skeptical of the transaction, the pharmacist called Dr. Powell and asked him to verify his signature on the prescription. But he couldn’t: that prescription, too, was fraudulent.
Both of the Ramseys remained in the Palm Beach County Jail late Wednesday. Kayla Ramsey is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail and Ricky Ramsey is being held in lieu of $20,000 bail.
