A 17-year-old was found asleep behind the wheel of an SUV. A small, white pill was found in the center console of his vehicle. The teen was arrested.
On June 23 an Okaloosa County Sheriff’s deputy was called to a Cypress Street location because an SUV – its engine running and its lights on – had been parked there for over an hour.
When the deputy arrived he found a teen curled up and asleep in the driver’s seat. He awakened the youth, and said he appeared to be under the influence of alcohol or narcotics. His pupils were very dilated and he seemed groggy.
The deputy asked to search the vehicle. In the center console he found a plastic bag containing a single white pill, which was later identified to be oxycodone.
The teen, identified as Braden Evan Smith, was charged with possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, a felony. Her court date is Aug. 8.
