A multi-agency statewide drug investigation led to law enforcement officers raiding Stuart Pain Management in the 1100 block of U.S. 1 Wednesday morning and serving a search warrant for the pain clinic business.
The raid is in connection with a year-long investigation into pain pill clinics that allegedly have been illegally dispensing pain medication such as Oxycodone, Indian River County sheriff’s officials said.
The search warrant today is in connection with what law enforcement officials called the largest statewide crackdown on pain clinics. Thirteen locations are being raided simultaneously from Pensacola to Miami, and are all owned by the same organization, federal Drug Enforcement Administration spokeswoman Mia Ro said.
Law enforcement agencies have arrest warrants for 14 people, she said.
The investigation started in Vero Beach in July 2011 and branched statewide.
Along with the DEA, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, the Attorney General’s Office, the Florida Department of Health and local law enforcement are involved in the investigation.
