If you are in the habit of purchasing stuff in bulk, then it is high time for you to get alert as recently the US Drug Enforcement Agency has launched an investigation over those who are purchasing the painkillers on bulk.
The authorities were forced to take up the task of launching an investigation by the manifold increase in the supply and demand of drug Oxycodone. It has been reported that as many as six Walgreens stores in Florida have been contacted by the authorities to get answer behind the sudden hike in the purchase of drugs.
The records about the sales of Oxycodone from the pharmacies have been confiscated by the investigating team. It has been informed that about 53 Walgreens pharmacies have been buying Oxycodone in large quantity.
In 2009, no pharmacy in Florida was found of buying Oxycodone in bulk. However, this year the picture is shocking. A warrant highlighting the cause behind the investigation has been issued. The warrant reads, “DEA is investigating Walgreens Jupiter and its top six retail pharmacies in Florida for 2011 to determine if the pharmacies are dispensing controlled substances outside the scope of their registration in violation of federal laws and regulation”.
It has come to light that some pharmacies sell the prescription drugs in the black market with increased prices. The concept of selling prescription drugs in the black market is a crime. The investigating team is working towards getting hold of the culprits who are involved in the prescription drug abuse.
Prescription drug abuse is a crime and it is punishable by law. The investigation has been going on for the past two months. The investigation will continue unless and until the investigators come to know the real cause behind the sudden hike in the demand of Oxycodone.
