A woman who used to operate two pain clinics was arrested today for selling her own prescription drugs, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said.
Renee DeMasso, 42, of Clearwater was arrested near her home after an investigation that lasted several months, the sheriff’s office said.
DeMasso obtained the prescription drugs oxycodone and hydrocodone for free through her insurance. She then sold the drugs, the sheriff’s office said.
She used to operate two pain clinics located in Pinellas Park and Largo. The businesses were closed in 2010, the sheriff’s office said.
DeMasso is being held in the Pinellas County Jail with no bail. She was charged with trafficking in hydrocodone, trafficking in oxycodone, two counts of sale or delivery of a controlled substance and possession of cocaine, which was a violation of her probation, the sheriff’s office said.
