Paterson man is sentenced to 5 years for selling oxycodone in Wayne

A Paterson man was sentenced to more than five years in prison Wednesday for selling oxycodone pills in Wayne, U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman said.Harun Arslan, 28, sold 300 80-milligram pills of oxycodone on the corner of Alps Road and Hamburg Turnpike in Wayne for $8,400, Fishman said in a statement. The transaction took place on Nov. 24, 2010.Oxycodone is a highly addictive prescription painkiller that can be dispensed only by a medical professional or pharmacist.Before Wednesday’ sentencing hearing in federal court in Newark, Arslan had pleaded guilty to one count of possession with intent to distribute oxycodone, authorities said.In addition to the 63-month prison term, U.S. District Judge Jose L. Linares sentenced Arslan to three years of supervised release.
